Oval Duck Egg Cotton Gathered Lampshade

In partnership with Haines - the award-winning online platform for surplus designer textiles & home furnishings we have selected this beautifully soft, duck egg cotton ikat to hand make the punchy gathered oval lampshade.
 
The space saving vibrant oval lampshade  is a limited edition of bold and bright lampshades using salvaged interiors fabrics - helping Haines to continue its mission to counter the 400,000 tonnes of homeware textile waste that ends up in UK landfill each year. Jules Haines, founder of Haines, worked with Sarah Davenport, creator of That Rebel House, to develop a range of maximalist ikat pattern lampshades using salvaged block-printed fabrics, each hand-made in the UK and available in six different colours and five different sizes.
 
“The idea of working with like-minded interiors and fashion studios on collaborative projects like this is to show that surplus fabrics can be given a second chance and transformed into luxury designs for the home,” says Jules Haines, founder of Haines. 
 
“I’ve wanted to work with Jules for a long time as we share the same attitude towards the environment and highlighting the issue of sustainability within the interiors industry,” comments Sarah Davenport, founder of That Rebel House. “When Jules showed me this ikat pattern - which is very much in tune with my own maximalist design aesthetic - we thought that it was a serendipitous opportunity to collaborate on a collection that would celebrate those shared views. The lightweight nature of the fabric, which wasn’t suited to its original purpose of covering sofas and armchairs, is actually ideal for using for our signature gathered cotton lampshades, and I’m thrilled that we’ve be able to create something really special out of these surplus products and give them a second chance.”
