Oka Vintage Woven Wall Hanging Tapestry
While out & about sourcing vintage rugs Sarah selects individual smaller pieces that work beautifully as original pieces of art. It's hard to leave any behind, but only the most statement and characterful tapestries are chosen. Sarah adds contrasting distressed wooden batons, painted with eco-friendly Edward Bulmer paint.
The resulting art is completely unique, and will never be seen in another home. The wall hangings can be hung as a statement on their own, or amongst a mix of styles of art to create an eclectic wall decor scheme.
The stab stitching style of the Oka is an absolute favourite, the exquisite (and very fun!) oriental kilim was selected for its stunning pattern, with details that are truly awe inspiring. This piece was likely intended as a saddle bag side, or a decorative patch for the nomad's tent. Despite all its historical charm, Oka won't be out of place amid contemporary home decor.
The bold colours and distinctive designs of Kilim tapestries are intentional, reflecting the history and culture of the tribal communities that made them. That’s why every piece sourced is a one-off, a piece of original art capturing the history and story of its maker that takes on a new life as a feature in your home.
